How to take and save a screenshot directly to desktop?

  • ‘Shift’ + ‘Command’ + ‘3’
    This command will take a screenshot of entire screen, and save it directly to the desktop.
  • ‘Shift’ + ‘Command’ + ‘4’
    This command will take a screenshot of a selected area, and save it directly to the desktop.
  • ‘Shift’ + ‘Command’ + ‘4’ + ‘Spacebar’
    This command will take a screenshot of a menu or window, and save it directly to the desktop.

How to take and save a screenshot to self-specified location? (By using Grab application)

  • ‘Command’ + ‘Z’
    This command will take a screenshot of entire screen, then show a preview of screenshot, and ask you to select a location to save it.
  • ‘Shift’ + ‘Command’ + ‘A’
    This command will take a screenshot of selected area. It will ask you to select an area, after selection it will show a preview of screenshot, and ask you to select a location to save it.
  • ‘Shift’ + ‘Command’ + ‘W’
    This command will take a screenshot of a menu or window. Click ‘choose window’ on opened ‘Window Grab’ window, click on any window you want to take screenshot of, then it will show a preview of screenshot, and ask you to select a location to save it.
  • ‘Shift’ + ‘Command’ + ‘Z’
    This command will take a screenshot of entire screen after every 10 seconds. Click ‘start’ on the opened ‘Timed Screen Grab’ window, then it will start taking screenshots until timer is canceled.
