The Motorola Milestone now has been rooted for full Android access. This rooting has been done by the members at the German based forum known as Android-Hilfe.de. Root access enables you to edit or modify the firmware of phone that allows you to install or run files that are not allowed by the phone manufacturer, like themes, customized ROMs, apps and much more.
How to root Motorola Milestone
Follow the below steps to root your Motorola Milestone.
Important: Follow the below steps on your own risk! We will not be responsible if you brick your phone during or after rooting.
- Download the .zip file that is required to root your phone, from here
- Rename the .zip file (you’ve downloaded from above link) to update.zip
- Copy the update.zip file to the SD memory card of your phone
- Switch off your phone
- Press and hold the camera button and the power button simultaneously until you see a triangle symbol with an exclamation mark
- Release the camera button and power button
- Press the volume increase button and camera button at the same time, then you’ll see a recovery menu
- Use the directional pad and select apply update.zip (Note: You may get the error after applying update, so don’t worry its normal)
- After the upgrade is completed, select the option to reboot your phone
Note: This is not the Android 2.0.1 update for Milestone, its just a root patch.
