Apple has just announced the most awaited update of iPhone OS, known as iPhone OS 4.0 for iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. This was unveiled in the “Sneak Peek” event held at Apple’s Infinite Loop campus in Cupertino. This latest version brings more than 100 new features for users and about 1500 new API’s for developers.

One of the best feature added in this release is multitasking. The user on YouTube named as EthanIn1970 has managed to download and update his iPhone 3GS to iPhone OS 4.0 beta. He has uploaded a video on YouTube showing the multitasking feature of the latest iPhone OS.

The iPhone OS 4.0 beta firmware is released and available for download from here. The final version of this latest iPhone OS will be available later in the summer this year, and the iPad version of iPhone OS 4.0 will release this Fall.

Some of the features (which includes, multitasking) of iPhone OS 4.0 won’t be available for original iPhone, iPhone 3G, and older generation of iPod Touch just because of older hardware.
