The Android 2.1 update for HTC Hero is now looking like a joke. Back in October 2009, HTC announced that an Android update for HTC Hero will be released in March 2010, but March came and went with no update.
Now today, HTC has just announced that the Android 2.1 update for HTC Hero has been delayed till June 2010.
The company has confirmed this news by sending an email which states that:
“HTC will be providing a free update to Éclair for European HTC Hero variants. Starting in June, anyone owning an HTC Hero will receive an initial preparatory update, shortly followed by the full Éclair update. For the full update, we would recommend using a free wi-fi hotspot or an unlimited data plan, otherwise standard data charges may apply”
It is expected that the Android 2.1 update will bring animated background, voice command service, access to Android Market, new web browser interface, and a lot more features to HTC Hero.
