The iPhone Dev Team has just released Redsnow 0.9.5 beta 5-2 tool to jailbreak the latest iOS 4.0 GM firmware. The iOS 4.0 GM candidate was officially released by Apple at WWDC 2010 and is available for download for developers.
The current beta release of this jailbreaking tool brings several improvements, enhancements, fixes and is only for developers and programmers of jailbroken apps that will help them update and test their apps on latest iOS.

The last version of Redsnow beta brings support to enable multitasking and wallpapers on iOS 4 running on iPod Touch 2G and iPhone 3G, now this version brings support to enable battery percentage which allows you to know how much juice in your battery is left and how much you have already consumed.
According to the iPhone Dev Team website:
The latest redsn0w beta lets you individually select whether multitasking and homescreen wallpaper are enabled. It also adds battery percentage and verbose boot mode options. (Verbose boot shows you the kernel messages during boot)
Note: Once you enable battery percentage, you actually toggle it off and on via Settings?General?Usage.
How to Jailbreak iOS 4 with Redsnow 0.9.5b5-2
The step by step guide to jailbreak iOS 4 GM candidate on iPod Touch 2G and iPhone 3G is similar to the last release of Redsnow. So before upgrading and jailbreaking your device, you should have to read all the notes and instructions posted here.
Note: This release will not unlock your device. So it is recommended that stay away from this release if you rely on an unlock, because updating will upgrade your baseband and then you’ll not be able to unlock your device.

Redsnow 0.9.5 beta 5-2 release supports iPod Touch 2G and iPhone 3G. It is compatible with both Windows and Mac OS X operating systems. To install this beta version, you must need to be a registered Apple developer or your iPhone UDID must be registered with any iPhone dev.
