How to Guide: Download Flash on Apple iPad

apple ipad wifi 3g model 300x179The Adobe Flash has just been successfully ported to the Apple iPad by Comex and has also been demonstrated by him on iPad in video form. For those who don’t know, Comex is a developer behind Spirit jailbreak for iPod Touch, iPhone, and iPad. You can also get this working on your iPad but you must need to have jailbroken iPad.

This Flash port is known as Frash. It is not recommended to try as it is still in an early phase (leaked version) and doesn’t play Flash videos yet but you can play some games and other animations. Video support is expected to be available in later release.

Download and Install Flash on iPad – How to

Follow the step by step guide posted below to download and install Flash on your iPad:

Note: This step by step guide posted below is only for testing and educational purpose. Follow it on your own risk.

  1. Jailbreak your iPad on iOS 3.2 with Spirit by following the guide posted here
  2. Open Cydia on your iPad
  3. Go to “Search” tab and then search for “OpenSSH”
  4. Now install OpenSSH and then reboot your iPad
  5. Close iTunes if it is running on your computer
  6. Connect your iPad with your computer
  7. Now to access your iPad file-system , you must need to download and install WinSCP if you are on Windows or CyberDuck if you are on Mac.
  8. Enter the following login details:
    • Details for WinSCP:
      • Hostname: The IP address of your iPad (Go to Settings -> WiFi)
      • Username: root
      • Password: alpine
      • Protocol: SCP
    • Details for Cyberduck:
      • Server: The IP address of your iPad (Go to Settings -> WiFi)
      • Username: root
      • Password: alpine
      • Protocol: SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol)
  9. Navigate to /var/root/Media directory and create a folder named “Cydia”
  10. Open this newly created folder Cydia, and create another new folder named as “AutoInstall”
  11. Download Frash.deb file from here
  12. Now copy the Frash.deb file into the “AutoInstall” folder
  13. Restart your iPad couple of times and you’re done
  14. Open Safari, navigate to non-video Flash content, and touch the “F” logo to play it
