Apple has just officially released iOS 4.0.1 to fix the signal problems and other issues which has been experienced by many iPhone 4 users. The iOS 4.0.1 is now publicly available for download for free from Apple. This firmware release has the build number 8A306.
The iOS 4.0.1 firmware is fully compatible with iPhone 4, and iPhone 3GS, but for iPhone 3G only multitasking feature will not work. The iOS 4.0.1 for iPad is expected to release and available by fall of this year. This firmware release brings more than hundreds of new features, improvements, and enhancements.

Update iPhone to iOS 4.0.1 – How to
NOTE: It is recommended to all jailbreakers and unlockers to stay away from this update until new tools are released for jailbreaking and unlocking the latest iOS 4.0.1 firmware.
To update your iPhone to iOS 4.0.1 then follow the step by step guide posted below:
- Download latest version of iTunes from here
- Connect your iPhone to your computer via USB
- Start iTunes
- When iTunes opens, select iPhone under “Devices” in the “Source List” on the left
- In the iPhone “Summary” pane, click “Check for Updates”
- Now click “Download and Install” to get the new iOS 4 firmware
Note: Do not disconnect your iPhone until the update finishes
