Apple has announced the new completely redesigned iPod nano in their Special Media Event. This next-gen iPod nano has Apple’s Multi-Touch interface and includes lots of new features like Genius Mixes, the ability to create and edit playlists, a built-in FM radio with live pause and will give you up to 24 hours of music playback just on a single battery charge.
The new iPod nano with Multi-Touch lets you navigate your music collection by simply tapping or swiping a finger on the display. It’s nearly half the size and weight of the previous generation, it also features a polished aluminum and glass enclosure with a built-in clip which makes it instantly wearable. “This is the biggest reinvention of the iPod nano since its debut in 2005, and we think users are going to love it,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “Replacing the click wheel with our Multi-Touch interface has enabled us to shrink the iPod nano into an amazingly small design that is instantly wearable with its built-in clip.”

Multi-Touch Interface and Customizable Home Screen


The new iPod nano with Apple’s Multi-Touch interface allows you to access your songs, artists, albums and playlists with a tap or swipe of your finger on the display. Holding down a finger on screen will return you to the Home screen. You can easily rotate the screen by using two fingers if it is clipped onto your clothing upside down. You can also customize Home screen of your iPod nano by simply dragging icons from other screens onto the Home screen.
Shake to Shuffle and Built-in FM Radio


iPod nano also features Shake to Shuffle, giving you the ability to shake your iPod nano to shuffle to a new song in their music library. With its built-in FM radio, iPod nano lets you listen to your favorite radio stations, and also gives you the ability to live pause and resume your favorite FM radio shows without missing a beat.
Built-in Pedometer

The new iPod nano has an amazing new design which is nearly half the size and weight of its predecessor. This new ultra-portable iPod nano is also a natural workout companion. It features a built-in pedometer that makes it easy to track your steps and also supports Nike + iPod, giving you the ability to track your runs and workouts.
Pricing and Availability
The new iPod nano will be available next week. The suggested price of three different iPod nano models are listed below.
- 8GB model for US $149
- 16GB model for US $179

Both above mentioned models will be available in six different colors that is silver, graphite, blue, green, orange, and pink through the Apple Store, Apple’s retail stores and Apple Authorized Resellers.
