Apple has announced the new thinnest and the lightest iPod touch in their Special Media Event. This next-gen iPod touch is powered by the latest Apple A4 chip and includes lots of new features like Retina display, FaceTime video calling, HD video recording, Gyroscope, iOS 4.1 and Game Center.

The new iPod touch will give you up to forty hours of music playback and seven hours of video playback just on a single battery charge. You can find more about this new iPod touch after the break.

Apple's Retina Display

The new Apple's Retina display on iPod touch will give you more sharper, smoother and more realistic images and video. The Retina display has 960 x 640 pixels which is four times as many pixels than before. The resulting 326 pixels per inch is so dense that the human eye is unable to distinguish individual pixels when iPod touch is held at a normal distance.

Front-Facing Camera and FaceTime Video Calling

The new front-facing camera and mic in the iPod touch will allow you to make FaceTime video calls over Wi-Fi. With FaceTime app, you can call other iPod touch or iPhone 4 users to see what they are up to, share important moments like the first day of school and you can even show other what they are seeing by easily switching to the rear-facing camera.

Rear-Facing Camera and HD Video Recording

Apple Special Media Event – Live Video Streaming

Few days ago, Apple has sent invitation of their Special Media Event to selected media members who will be covering this event. Now today, Apple has just announced that they will broadcast their September 1st "Special Media Event" online.

In this event Apple will publicly announce and show their all new lineup of iPod which includes iPod touch and other iPod models. It is also expected that they will announce the new Apple TV with show rental services, iOS 4 for iPad, and iOS 4.1 for iPhones and iPod touches.

Apple will broadcast this media event online by using their industry-leading HTTP Live Streaming which is based on open standards. To watch this live broadcast, you need to have either a Mac running Safari on Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, an iPhone or iPod touch running iOS 3.0 or higher, or an iPad.

According to the press release by Apple:

"Apple will broadcast its September 1 event online using Apple’s industry-leading HTTP Live Streaming, which is based on open standards. Viewing requires either a Mac running Safari on Mac OS X version 10.6 Snow Leopard, an iPhone or iPod touch running iOS 3.0 or higher, or an iPad. The live broadcast will begin at 10:00 a.m. PDT on September 1, 2010 at www.apple.com."

The live broadcast of this event is set to begin at 10 AM Pacific Time on Wednesday, September 1st at Apple.com. The location of this event is the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco.

Netflix App Now Available for iPhone and iPod touch

Netflix Incorporation has released an updated version of their Netflix app for iPad. This new version brings support for iPhone and iPod touch in addition to iPad.

All the features that was available on iPad version is now available for iPhone and iPod touch. This version didn't bring any new feature or enhancement other than the increased compatibility with two more Apple devices that is iPhone and iPod touch.

Apple Special Media Event on September 1st – Confirmed

Today, Apple has sent invites for the "Special Media Event" to some selected media members who will be going to join them and cover this event live. This event is set to be held on Wednesday, September 1st at 10 AM Pacific Time, at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco.

It is expected that Apple will announce and show their all new line-up of iPods including iPod touch and other iPod models, the new Apple TV, iOS 4 for iPad, and iOS 4.1 for iPhones and iPod touches.

It is also expected that the major changes will be in iPod line, that new iPod touch 4 will brings lots of new features, enhancements, improvements, and more. The iPhone Dev Team has created a new app which is named as "vWallpaper". This app will allow you to use animated HD wallpapers on your iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 4.x or iOS 3.x.

To install and use this app on your iPhone or iPod touch, first you must need to jailbreak it. Earlier this year, an option to set animated HD wallpapers on phone's homescreen was first introduced on Google Nexus One phone with Android 2.1.

All of you know that the iOS 4.0.2 firmware for iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod Touch, and iOS 3.2.2 firmware for iPad has been released by Apple. This firmware update fixes the PDF exploit used by the latest web based jailbreak tool known as JailbreakMe.

Saurik of the iPhone Dev Team and the creator of Cydia has developed a tool that will fix all the exploit on all iOS based devices, including iPhone 2G and iPod Touch 1G.

To secure all iOS based devices, Apple has recommended this new firmware update to everyone. But after updating your iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad to iOS 4.0.2 / iOS 3.2.2 the exploit will be fixed and then you'll not be able to jailbreak and unlock it until new jailbreaking and unlocking tools are released.
